Betty Komar

April 17, 1957 ~ November 30, 2020 (age 63)

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Betty Komar formerly of Grandview, Manitoba on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the age of 63 years.

Betty was born in Grandview on April 17, 1957 to Ross and Alice Green and was the youngest of four siblings. She attended school in Grandview until her high school years when she decided to enter the work force.

Ken and Betty started dating in 1974 and were married on June 21, 1975. Together they had six children, Cheryl, Shawna, Pamala, Kristoffer, Jennifer, and Tambor. She loved her children and spent countless hours caring for them, and getting them to where they needed to go.
Betty loved having company at the farm. Always making it her responsibility to be sure everyone was fed, watered, babysat and arrive back to their homes safely. She loved her family and friends, but she also enjoyed being a farmer’s wife and mother. She enjoyed being out in the field with the guys or delivering meals to them. You could almost always find her in the kitchen baking bread, endless pies or canning for her family. Countless hours were spent with her animals, raising pigs, chickens and geese. She always named her geese so when it came time to butcher, she called them by name, and they came right to her. Making the ordeal much quicker than watching the kids chasing them, trying to catch them.
Betty loved to sing and dance. If there was music, she would be singing or dancing her heart out.  Whether it was dancing with a partner or singing while cleaning the house and dancing with a broom. Her love for music led her to the church choir at the United Church in Grandview where she attended and sang for a few years.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Ross Green; brother, Jack Green; brother-in-law, Wade Cowling; father-in-law, Joe Komar; mother-in-law, Muriel Komar; brothers-in-law, Tony Komar and Bill Kothlow; nephew, Andrew Kothlow and an infant grandson, Peter Komar-Evans.

Betty leaves to mourn her death, her husband of 45 years, Kenneth Komar, their children, Cheryl Komar (Stephen Scott) of Dauphin, Shawna Cornell (Josh Cornell) of Roblin, Manitoba, Pamala Komar (Clayton Kaminski) of Grandview, Manitoba, Kristoffer Komar of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jennifer Komar of Dauphin, Manitoba, Tambor Komar (Casey Arneson) of Preeceville, Saskatchewan. Grandchildren, Carter and Cody Scott, Peyton and Reece Cornell, Keeley, Chace and Kenni Kaminski, Sebastian Buffalo, as well as numerous children who called her mom and grandma. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister-in-law, Nadine Green of Selkirk, Manitoba; sister, Marg Cowling of Warren, Manitoba, sister, Anne Manweiller (Wayne) of Grandview, Manitoba; sister-in-law, Raelene Fortney (Gene) of Grandview, Manitoba; Joscelyn McCool (David) of Grandview, Manitoba as well as many numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.

Time cannot heal a heartache,
Or stop a silent tear,
It won’t take away the memories,
Of the one we loved so dear.
