Berniece (Kaminski) Staver

Berniece Staver was born in Grandview on May 10th, 1954 to parents, Teenie (Chyckowski) and Stanley Kaminski.  She attended the Sugarloaf school until grade eight and then continued on to the Grandview School.  Berniece moved to Winnipeg at the age of 16, working various jobs until meeting her partner of 42 years, Chuck Staver. Chuck and Bernice were married for 31 years and had three boys Clayton, Clinton and Cory.

Bernice enjoyed gardening, fishing, mushroom and berry picking and camping with her family and friends.  Bernice was known for her heart of gold and helping in any way she could. When her mom fell sick, she left Winnipeg to come home and help look after her.  When her dad got to a point where he could not live on his own, Bernice and Chuck made the decision to move their family back to her hometown of Grandview, to look after him so he could stay on the farm.

Bernice was very outgoing. She would stop and chat with anyone she met on the street; an old friend or a perfect stranger, to talk about the weather or whatever was on her mind that day.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 31 years, Chuck Staver.  Her three sons Clayton Kaminski (Pam Komar), Clinton Kaminski (Lonna Kuzyk), and Cory Kaminski;  grandchildren Keeley, Chace, Kenni, Eva and Isabelle;  her brother Daniel Kaminski (Mona); brother in law Steve Sawchuk; sister in law Carol Kaminski, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Berniece was predeceased by her parents Teenie and Stanley Kaminski; brother Mike Kaminski and sister Jeanette Sawchuk.

A Funeral Service was held for Berniece on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Grandview United Church in Grandview with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.
