Barbara Storozuk Obituary

On Sunday, September 30, 2018 Barbara Storozuk passed away peacefully at the Dauphin Regional Hospital in Dauphin, MB at the age of 91 years.  
She will be missed by her sons Greg (Donna), Gary (Sharlene) and grandchildren Michael, Shary and Racheal.  She is survived by sisters Elizabeth Nurnberger, Shirley Kinnis (Bill), brother Walter Byrko (Rose), as well as many nieces and nephews .
Barb was predeceased by her husband Mike, her father Dymetro and mother Anne, sisters Mary, Nellie, Edna and brothers Bill, John, Peter, Nick and Harry.
Barb was born September 15, 1927 in the R.M. of Grandview, MB to Dymetro and Anne (nee Burdeniuk) Byrko.  She was educated at Winona School.  Barb left home at 14 and worked summers on a farm in Decker, MB and in Watrous, MB at her Aunt Verna and Uncle John Lukey's.  In 1947 she married Mike Storozuk at the  Roblin Ukrainian Catholic Church.  They moved to Sudbury where Mike worked in the mines.  First son Gregory was born in December 1952 and Gary three years later.  They came back to Petlura area for a year after purchasing a farm from Mike's parents.  They then went back to Sudbury and Elliot Lake area in north western Ontario.  1964 - 1976 they lived in places like Hudson’s Hope, BC, Los Andes, Chile in South America, Churchill Falls, Labrador Newfoundland, Mica Creek, BC and Dauphin, MB.
In 1976 Barb and Mike moved to Dryden, ON where the family purchased a motel business and stayed there until 1985.  Barb and Mike moved back to Dauphin to join a family business at the Dauphin Inn Motel.  They sold the business in 2005 and retired in Dauphin.
Barb and Mike enjoyed the same things, company of friends and relatives, travel, casinos and VLT's.  Barb liked to go to the Dauphin Kings hockey games whenever she could, she loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays games on TV as well as hockey and curling.

A Funeral Liturgy was held for Barbara on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 am from the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin with Very Rev Father Oleg Bodnarski officiating.  

Interment followed in the Grandview Memorial Gardens & District Cemetery.
