Annie Weaver Obituary

Annie Weaver-Zondlo was born on November 6th, 1926, to John and Sarah Zondlo. Together with her sisters Sophie, Mary, Martha, and Lil and brother Peter, they lived humbly off the land on the family farm. She attended school in her early years in the RM of Lawrence near Rorketon, MB. On July 12, 1947, she married David Nelson Weaver in Dauphin, MB. Annie and David spent the next 46 years together, until his passing in 1993.

They bought the Weaver farm on the shore of Lake Dauphin near Rorketon, MB, where they raised their five daughters, Joyce, Corinne, Anne, Debbie, and Sandy. After farming for nearly 30 years, in 1975, they moved to Dauphin, MB,  where Annie worked at Lubes Super Saver until retirement.

Annie was devoted to the Salvation Army Church even after its Dauphin chapter closed. She welcomed many of the rotational ministers and always made them feel at home and part of the family during their time in Dauphin. Many remained lifelong friends. She loved her trips to Camp Woodlands and other trips with the Salvation Army Ladies. She was a proud member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and every Monday afternoon, you could find her at “The Gift Shop” volunteering her time and various knitted items, including baby blankets for each new addition to her family.

Annie's hobbies were abundant as she kept busy throughout her years, knitting, crocheting, crafting with canvas, and her trusty Aleene’s glue, gardening and canning her harvest (the dill pickles and salsa were always family favourites), and expertly tending to her flowers. She enjoyed reminiscing about past trips to Texas, Edmonton, Alaska, and England to visit friends and family afar.

Gathering with family and friends held a special place in her heart. She loved cooking a delicious homemade meal, including her specialties, borscht, sour cabbage soup, beet leaf buns, cabbage rolls and nalysnky. Then afterward, playing a few games of cribbage, where she was always quite happy to give her opponents a lesson on how it was done!

Annie had a wonderful outlook on life, and she had a knack for helping anyone who came into her life feel special. She exuded kindness, compassion, determination, and strength that all her family aspires to live up to. Her faith was strong, allowing her to live each day to the fullest, knowing that one day she would return home to her Lord and Saviour.

She is survived by daughters Corinne Highfield (Gilbert), Anne Hanson (Gerry), and Sandy Weaver (Ken, deceased); grandchildren Cheryl Highfield (Al, deceased), David Highfield, Jeffrey Kilmister, Cathy Worrall (Robert), Lisa Hanson, Ben Hanson, Barrett Telfer (Becky), Chantel Telfer (Ryan);great-grandchildren Chelsa (Trevor), Sasha (Matt), Alysha (Richard), Alana (Kevin), Logan, Zolton, Payton (Josh), Ivy, and Rhys; numerous nieces, nephews, along with great nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, David Nelson Weaver; daughters Joyce Weaver and Debbie Telfer; and son-in-law, Bruce Telfer.

Annie always enjoyed having her family around her, and she had a truly immeasurable impact on all of them and everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts!
