It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend, Olive Lavallee on March 20, 2020 at the age of 84, at the Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg, Manitoba surrounded by her loved ones.
Left to mourn her loss is her son, Darryl; numerous nieces and nephews and grandchildren, brothers, Edward (Marlene), Freddy and sisters, Marilyn (Walt) and Lorraine. She is predeceased by her parents, Gideon and Marie Lavallee of Duck Bay; her brothers, Albert and Joe Lavallee; her sisters, Yvonne Murdock and Christine Hather.
Olive was born in the Duck Bay settlement on November 5, 1935. She was raised and educated in Duck Bay with her siblings. She left working and staying numerous places, until she settled in Winnipeg where she started work for the Freshwater Fisheries in 1972 for 35 years.
Olive enjoyed many things in her lifetime which could be watching game shows to watching music festivals and dances. But she will be remembered for travel... from just simply going to Grand Forks to watch her granddaughter play hockey or going with her sister to North Korea (to visit a niece) and a quick walk on the Great Wall of China. It did not matter if Darryl could not take her, she would jump on a bus whether it be for Bingo or Casino Tours or go with her sister to visit in-laws out east, the woman would be on the move. She’d say to Darryl "are you ready? Let’s go! “ And they'd be off. She would often visit family and friends catching up and reminiscing over a cup of coffee or tea.
