It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alvin Thomas Forrest on March 28, 2025, at the age of 84.
Alvin is survived by his son Philip and daughter-in-law Irene of Stonewall, his daughter Wendy and grandson Damon, both of Winnipeg and his sister Verda of Edmonton, as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Forrest and Mary Found Forrest and his siblings, Lorna, Shirley, Robert, Dianne and Garfield.
Alvin worked hard in his life, first on the family farm while growing up near Gilbert Plains and then for more than 37 years with Manitoba Hydro. He travelled around Manitoba with Hydro, including a decade spent working outdoors in the harsh climate of Churchill. After retirement, Alvin returned home to Gilbert Plains and spent the rest of his years there and in Dauphin, moving to Winnipeg to be closer to his children only weeks before his passing.
He will be remembered with love by all those close to him. We will miss him.
In accordance with Alvin’s wishes, a private family service will take place at a later date.
