It is with sadness we announce the passing of a dear dad, brother, uncle and very dear friend to so many. Allan Nimmo, aged 75 years of Dauphin, MB, formerly of Winnipeg and Ashville, MB. , passed away on October 3, 2025.
Allan was born in Moose Jaw, SK on August 3, 1950. In 1963, the family moved to Ashville, MB, near Dauphin. Allen spent many years in the Dauphin area, later pursuing a career in automotive mechanics, in which he excelled. Through a pilot friend, Wim Averson, Allan was encouraged to take his pilot training. After being certified, he worked for Dauphin Air Service for a time. After several years he developed the desire and possessed the ability to enter jet-powered aviation. In 1978, he started working for Perimeter Airlines in Winnipeg and excelled in his position as a learjet pilot under the management of his boss, Marty Jacques. It seemed he did so well with the company, he married the owner Bill Wehrle’s daughter, Deeds. Allan continued to work with Perimeter for many years and then eventually became a private corporate jet pilot for the Asper family, the Aboriginal group, amongst others. He worked for Louie Telany, owner of TransX Freightways, until his voluntary retirement in 2018. He realized his ongoing Alzheimer symptoms were creeping in.
Allan was predeceased by his mother Rosie Nimmo in 2009; father Earl Nimmo in 2015; brother Colin aged 6 years; brother Rick in 2017; great-nephew Nolan in 2014 and infant great-nieces Zalylah and Amber.
He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Melanie Nimmo of Winnipeg; sister Roxanne and her husband Richard Altenberg of Dauphin; niece Shannon Knezacek of Lockport and great-nephew Dylan Nimmo of Dauphin.
A Celebration of Life was held for Allan on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm from the Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with Pastor Scott Allen officiating.
Interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin, MB.
