Alice Eugenia Larsen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Eugenia Larsen on January 17, 2026 at the Dauphin Personal Care Home. Alice was born on September 12, 1940 at Horod, Manitoba. In 1945 her parents moved from Ontario and settled in the Oakburn district. She attended Grades 1-8 in a rural one-room school and then completed her high school at Oakburn. After graduation she became a permit teacher and later upgraded to a permanent certificate. She taught in rural schools in the Fork River, Pine River and Swan River districts.
She met her future husband Ted Larsen in Swan River and on July 4, 1964 they were united in marriage. They moved to Thompson where Ted worked at the Inco mine and Alice continued her teaching career. Their son Sean was born in 1971. After Ted's passing in 1984 Alice and Sean moved to Dauphin where she worked as a substitute teacher for many years. Teaching and interacting with students continued to be her passion.
During Sean's early and adolescent years Alice was a great supporter of his efforts in hockey. She cheered him on at home games and travelled to out of town tournaments and to hockey school in Minnesota.
After moving to Dauphin she was able to spend more time with her parents. She also enjoyed her nephews and niece dropping in for mushroom soup, grilled cheese sandwiches and an ice-cream treat to go. She frequently visited with Aunt Margaret for a cup of coffee and to watch television shows. Alice's favourite outings were excursions with Ashleigh to Plumas and later to Portage to Joe and Adell's.
Alice was predeceased by her husband Ted and son Sean, parents Stanley and Annie Stozek, sister Cornelia, and brother-in-law Joe Budnick.
Left to cherish her memory are sister Adell Budnick, brother Ed Stozek (Janice), nephews Gerald Budnick (Angela), Warren Stozek (Shanie), Troy Stozek (Michelle Schram) and niece Ashleigh Stozek.
Alice is also lovingly remembered by great nieces and nephews Andrea (Paul), David, Qaliyanna, Cassius, Azalea, Sydney, Sasha, and Rayden.
In accordance with Alice's wishes, cremation will take place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the staff at the PCH for the care and compassion they extended to Alice.
Alice will always be in our hearts.
