With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Albert Wallace Harrison on May 12, 2025, at the Dauphin Personal Care Home.
Born April 1, 1942, to parents James Albert and Pheobea Helen Harrison, Albert was the oldest of seven children raised on a farm near McCreary Manitoba. After graduation, he continued his education in Winnipeg at the Industrial Vocational Education Centre and later moved to Dauphin where he began his career as an auto mechanic for the next 40+ years.
Albert married the love of his life Catherine (Cathy) and together they moved to an acreage near Valley River, Manitoba where they raised two daughters. Because of Albert’s outgoing personality, their home was where neighbours, friends and family often gathered, engaged in stories that Albert shared, and continued to share until his passing. Albert embraced the outdoors, and created an oasis of trees, gardens and flower beds that were meticulously cared for. Classic cars were iconic collection items, an extension of his wealth of knowledge of vehicles, regardless of make, model and year. Albert’s passions in later years grew to include cooking and even baking, especially the date cake that was (again) meticulously made for every Christmas gathering.
Albert’s love for Cathy was most apparent in later years, taking her on outings and ensuring her comfort while touring the yard and enjoying the oasis they created together.
Albert is predeceased by his parents, sister Betty (Jon) Myrdal, brother James Harrison, sister Lois (Lawrence) Harrison.
Albert is survived by his wife Cathy, daughters Carol Graham, Christine (Rick) Richardson, grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth and Parc and brother George (Sherry) Harrison, sisters Patricia Harrison (Yannis) and Lynn Harrison, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
