It's with great sadness we announce the passing of Adrianna Sicinski on June 13, 2022 at the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home at the age of 88 years.
She was born February 18, 1934 to parents Roy & Ethel Bassett. She married Walter Sicinski on May 12, 1950.
Adrianna's heart was the farm and farm life. She moved 2 miles from her family farm to the farm she & Walter shared and together they raised three children. She enjoyed raising chickens, turkeys, growing a large garden and helping with field work. Adrianna's background was basically English but with Dad's culture being Ukrainian, she did very well learning and conquering the art of Ukrainian Culinary. She enjoyed making large meals for family and friends making use of her garden products. Other hobbies she enjoyed were knitting, sewing, crocheting and rug hooking. She also played piano, organ and accordion. Dee remembers mom playing the piano with the kids around her singing dad's favorite song "On Top pf Old Smokie". Her passion for watching curling helped pass the time in the winter. She loved watching the Grand Slam, the Tournament of Hearts, and the Tim Horton's Brier. She was proud watching her granddaughter Danielle curl twice in the Tournament of Hearts.
Mom and Dad's plan following retirement from farming was to travel. They did one trip with family friends to Mazatlan. Her most joyous trips were the two Celebrity Caribbean Cruises she went on. One of which she won with her daughter Linda through HSC Foundation Home Lottery. This cruise was enjoyed with her daughter Devona. One desire that wasn't fulfilled was to take the Alaskan Coast cruise.
Due to health concerns Adrianna moved to the Barrows Apartments, then after another serious medical urgency she moved to her final address, the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home, where she lived until her passing.
Adrianna was predeceased by her husband Walter; her parents Roy & Ethel Bassett; brothers Doug, Darryl , Barry; sisters-in-law Pat, Margaret and Glenda; grandchild baby boy Bradley.
She is survived by her children, Devona (Ray), Bradley (Susan), Linda; grandchildren Charlene, Roxane (Robert), Christina, Amanda (Cody), Danielle (Derek); plus 7 great grandchildren; as well as her brother Harvey (Linda) Bassett.
A Graveside Service was held on Friday, June 17th, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Chatsworth Cemetery in Gilbert Plains, MB with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.
