Wilma (Granny) passed away on September 14, 2018 at the age of 82 years at the Gilbert Plains Health Centre. Granny was born on January 23, 1936 at the homestead south of Gilbert Plains, MB. Granny was one of 6 children born to George and Thelma Jubenvill. Granny worked hard all her life. In her younger years she was outside with her Dad helping with daily chores and enjoyed every minute of it. She had a chore horse named Tiny who she trained to stay when she dropped the lines, the horse never moved.
She met Homer Stewart who had been working on the thrashing crew for her parents. She married the love her life, Homer on October 29th, 1964. They raised 3 children on the farm south of Gilbert Plains. Daughters Evelyn (Joe Burgess), Karen (Craig Von Bargen), and a son James (Tammy Hayward). She was blessed with 11 grandchildren; Kristine, Nicole, JJ, Devon, Dani, Chet, Cody, Justin, Travis, Kristopher, and Cali. There were many card games played and laughs with the grandkids. She has 10 great grandchildren as well.
She will also be remembered by brothers, Reg and Daryl Jubenvill, sisters-in-law, Joy Jubenvill, Ellen Elliot, and Gladys McNabb, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma was predeceased by her husband Homer, brothers Bill and Joe and sister Verone, sister-in-law Levain, brothers-in-law Don and Dave, Charlie and Cliff, sisters-in-law Nessie and Norma.
The morning started at the kitchen table having coffee and discussing the daily activities. Granny enjoyed watching a good curling game or a baseball game. She was a member of the United Church Ladies of Gilbert Plains and Red hat ladies. In her later years she enjoyed playing darts and going for coffee with the ladies, you always knew when it was 3:00!
Granny enjoyed her family and was always proud of their accomplishments .The little wave and twinkle in her eyes as she said GOOD-BYE shall be treasured.
Funeral Service was held on September 19, 2018 at from Gilbert Plains United Church in Gilbert Plains, MB with Rev. Karne Kuzyk officiating. Interment followed in Chatsworth Cemetery in Gilbert Plains, MB. Pallbearers were Robyn Meyer, Dean Bates, Kevin Lynch, Scott McNabb, Wayne Dewitt, John Jubenvill.
