Waldymir "Walter" Stadnyk Obituary

Waldymir "Walter" Stadnyk passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the age of 73 years.

Waldymir Stadnyk was born on January 6, 1946 in Petlura, MB to William and Mary Stadnyk.  He resided in Petlura working on the family farm.  Waldymir loved working with horses and cattle; he also loved to torment his older and younger siblings.  At the age of 17 he met his wife Janice Kitlar, they were married on October 9, 1965.  After they married they moved to Sugarloaf area to start his career in farming.  On April 1, 1970 they welcomed their first son, Garry Stadnyk, and then 6 years down the road on March 14, 1976 they had their second son Ivan.  In 1977 Waldymir was elected into the RM of Grandview as a councillor, he served 21 years as councillor and Reeve, he loved working with everyone in the community.  In February of 2000 Waldymir and Janice sold the family farm and moved to Ashville, MB, Waldymir resided there till he passed on December 28, 2019.  He was supposed to be semi-retired but it was hard for him to do that because he was not a man to sit around.  Waldymir held numerous part time jobs; he worked at the Ukrainian Orthodox Hall, a contractor for Safeway Canada, Piston Ring, and Advic Bearing & Auto.  Waldymir loved his horses, loved training them, he always looked for a challenge and no challenge was too big!  He also loved going for rides in the Riding Mountain Park.  Waldymir was the type of person that could sit and talk with anyone; he always has a story to tell.

Waldymir leaves behind his family, wife Janice Stadnyk of 54 years; sons Garry and Ivan Stadnyk; mother-in-law Nettie Kitlar; sisters Joyce Stadnyk and Sylvia Mykolaishyn; brothers Russel Stadnyk, John Stadnyk and William Stadnyk; sister-in-law Lucy Stadnyk; brother-in-law Douglas Mykolaishyn; and many nieces and nephews.  Waldymir was predeceased by his parents Bill and Mary Stadnyk.
