Philip Furkalo Obituary

Philip Furkalo of Dauphin, Manitoba passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the age of 92 years.

Philip was born on January 17, 1926 in Keld to parents John & Matilda (Cholka) Furkalo.  He attended school at Lemberg School.
Philip worked in Sudbury for a year and then returned to farm.  He bought his first 80 acre farm and later went to raising hogs.  Prices were so good, he took four hogs to auction and received a cheque for $96.  He made so much money on those hogs that he was able to go on bus trips to the California Rose Bowl Parade, to Florida, Alaska and the East Coast.  He went to Hawaii and lastly on a cruise through the Panama Canal. When his health started to fail he retired from farming at 80 years old but was always out on the farm to pick rocks and haul grain at harvest.  In 1994 Philip and Anne built a home in Dauphin and enjoyed a happy retirement till Philip took ill.
Surviving are his wife Anne of 61 years; three sons Ken of Gilbert Plains, Larry & wife Cheryl of Stonewall and Daryl of Winkler; two grandchildren Logan & Fallon; two sisters Joyce & husband Mike Semus of Windsor, Anne Sadoway of Ethelbert; one sister-in-law Margaret Furkalo of Dauphin; brothers-in-law Alex & wife Anne Dupley of Gilbert Plains, Metro of Dauphin, Peter Onufreichuk of Dauphin; Victoria Podworny of Dauphin and many nieces and nephews.
