In sadness we announce the passing of Olive Choma on May 21, 2018 at the Dauphin Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years.
Olive Choma (Garton) was born on November 5, 1942 in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, one of six children of Art & Edna Garton (fifth child). Olive got her education in Woodbend School and Ochre River School.
She worked in the family store in Ochre River until she met and married Mike Choma in October 1960.
They lived in Dauphin and she worked in a clothing store and then worked in the Dauphin General Hospital for 25 years.
As a volunteer she worked with Beavers and Brownies, the Anglican Church ladies group and young men's bingo organization, and the Orthodox Church & Hall.
After her husband suffered a stroke she took care of him for 27 years which took up a lot of time.
She leaves to mourn her dear friend and companion Gillis Ogg of Laurier, MB; her son Morris (Lorinda); grandchildren Ian, Luke and Jordyn and their mother Birgit. She is also survived by her brother Garland (Margaret) of Telkwa, BC; sister Elsie (George - deceased) Douglas of Lloydminster, SK, sister Pearl (Merv) Cooper of Sherwood Park, AB; and members of the Choma extended family.
Olive was predeceased by her parents Art & Edna Garton of Ochre River, MB; her brother Walter (Myrna Hall) of Brandon, MB; her sister Joyce (Willard) Ross of Osgoode, ON.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 am from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB with the Venerable Paul Crossland officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin, MB. Pallbearers were Ian Detscher-Choma, Luke Detscher-Choma, Brian Choma, Luca Choma, Rob Michaluk, Larry Garton.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Olive may be made to Dauphin Regional Health Centre - Cancer Treatment or Palliative Care.
