Olga Kokolsky (nee Swintak) of Dauphin, MB passed away peacefully on July 2, 2018 at the Dauphin Personal Care Home at the age of 97 years.
Olga was born on March 14, 1921 in the Rural Municipality of Ethelbert to Kasko & Olana Swintak (nee Mychalyk). She went to school at Damray and Kerr. On April 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Bill Kokolsky in Ethelbert, where they farmed until they moved to the Rigby District in the Rural Municipality of Dauphin in 1944. There they farmed and raised four children until they moved into Dauphin in 1969.
Olga was a member of Valley River St. Vladimir's & St. Olga Ukrainian Catholic town church as well as the Ukrainain Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin.
Olga was also a very active member with the Trembowla Cross of Freedom and was an honourary member with Bill. They both helped with the cleaning and preparation of the site for various functions.
Olga was predeceased by her parents; brothers Stanley, Bill & wife Elsie, Mike & wife Anne, Tony & wife Lilian; sister Mary & husband Nick Yaworski; sisters in law Stella & Anita Swintak; and daughter in law Doris Kokolsky.
Left to mourn and cherish fond memories are her sons Ernie (Anne Goy) of Dauphin, MB, Melvin of Edmonton, AB, David and wife Maureen of Edmonton, AB, Rosanne & husband Michael Yaciuk of Stony Plain, AB. Olga also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Melinda & husband Drew McFarlane of Stony Plain, AB, Mark & wife Megan Kokolsky of Edmonton, AB, Allen & wife Lauren Yaciuk of Leduc, AB, Trevor & wife Tracy Kokolsky of Edmonton, AB, as well as 3 great granddaughters Iyla & Alice McFarlane & Valynn Yaciuk; brothers Steve Swintak of Windsor, ON, Peter Swintak of Amherstburg, ON, John & wife Anne Swintak of Sudbury, ON and Morris Swintak of Winnipeg, MB. There are many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral Liturgy was held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm from Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin, MB with Very Rev Father Oleg Bodnarski officiating. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin, MB. Pallbearers were Mark Kokolsky, Trevor Kokolsky, Allen Yaciuk, Melinda McFarlane, Megan Kokolsky, Tracy Kokolsky, Drew McFarlane
