Oksana and Quinn Dutchyshen Obituary

It is with great sorrow the family of Oksana and Quinn Dutchyshen announce their accidental passing on Friday, August 16, 2019.

Oksana Lesley Dutchyshen made her long-winded 3 day entrance in to the world in the middle of a spring snow storm on April 28th 2013. From day 1 Oksana was a strong willed, determined chatterbox. She was an analytical and had an opinion on or explanation for EVERYTHING. Oksana was her Mummy and Daddy’s world. She went with Mummy to deliver meals to the field to Daddy, travelled to Swan River to attend her cousin’s birthday parties, went to Brandon to go shopping with her Aunties, spent time on equipment on Dido’s and Granda’s farms charming people everywhere she went. As she grew she learned to love creating, painting & drawing and was so good at it. She loved pretty shoes, dressing up, handbags & purses and little trinkets. Everywhere Oksana went whether it was the beach, the park, daycare or Walmart, she came home with something. Mummy was continuously finding small, smooth pebbles in the bottom of the washing machine from her pockets. And there were stickers stuck all over Dad’s furniture and vehicle.
On September 27th 2014 Oksana was gifted a best friend and sister when Quinn Rose Dutchyshen made her quick, less dramatic entrance in to the world on a rain day during harvest. Quinn’s simple birth reflected her life too. She was so laid back and giggly. Quinn was the perfect side kick for Oksana. Much to Oksana’s delight Quinn always did what she was told or was tricked in to doing. Quinn loved swinging, swimming, quadding and cartoons. She also loved shoes like her big sister, until they were actually on her feet. As soon as she got in the truck, off they would come! She loved to cuddle and be the one who was holding the remote, just to annoy her big sister. Quinn loved to push Oksana’s buttons but also didn’t like to go anywhere without her. Before she was old enough to join dance she stood on the sidelines of Oksana’s lessons and danced along with her.  Together, Oksana and Quinn attended Sadochok nursery school at Smith Jackson Elementary School, Parkside Awana Club, learned to skate with Skate Dauphin and danced with the Zirka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble.
Both girls were hilarious! Before Quinn could really talk she called Oksana “Sana”. And when meeting someone new Oksana would say at 100 mph “I’m Oksana and this is my sister Quinny.”
Oksana and Quinn had very close relationships with their grandparents. At Grandma and Granda’s house they made crafts, learned about Jesus, went quadding, dressed up, stayed up very late to look at the stars and were taken on endless field trips here, there and everywhere. At Bapka and Dido’s they made cookies with Bapka, played Mother May I on the deck, learned Ukrainian culture & language, dressed up as Snow White and played with their Daddy’s old toys from his childhood too.
Oksana & Quinn spent every waking moment living with joy. They were smiley and compassionate, smart and beautiful. They bickered one moment and hugged the next. They were so full of life and love for each other and everyone around them. Oksana and Quinn were each other’s best friends and their parent’s world.  Together in death, as they were in life, they will now rest peacefully safe in the arms of Jesus for eternity.
