Nicholas "Nick" Kiryluik Obituary

Nicholas (Nick) Kiryluik , 92 years, passed of natural causes on July 13, 2019 in Dauphin, MB with his dedicated wife, Victoria (Vicky) by his side.
Nicholas was born December 3, 1926 in Whitebeech, SK to parents John Kiryluik and Mary (Balan) Kiryluik, who passed away giving birth to her son, Nick.
Nick was raised primarily by his oldest sister Nellie (d. 2000) along with Annie (d. 1997).  Survived by stepbrother Taras; wife of 67 years Victoria (Vicky); sons Merv (Nancy) of Naples Florida, Greg (Debby) of  Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, Bruce (Terri) of Sprucegrove, AB; daughter Veronica Ruhnau (Rob) of Kamloops, BC; grandchildren Janey (BJ), Emily, Jessica (Andrew), Monica, Taylor.
Nick and Vicky were married May 9, 1952 in Dauphin, MB and lived in Dauphin their entire life together, raising their children, working hard at 2 or 3 jobs at the same time providing for their children and trying to make a better life.
Nick attended grade schools in Whitebeech but never graduated high school, learning coming more from the school of hard knocks as a result of an ever changing hard early life; in the early years of adult life Nick moved to Dauphin, MB as a 21 year old. His early jobs included delivery of milk door to door, then a mechanic for the Canadian National Railway and he met his wife, Vicky in 1951.  He later moved to sales positions with Eaton's Department Store and various auto dealerships achieving sales awards and designations along the way.
he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always looking for fishing friends - winter or summer.
Once the children were born, happy times included trips to visit the children and grandchildren in Minnesota and numerous cities in western Canada, Niagara Falls & Toronto.
Nick was very supportive of the boys playing hockey including building ice rinks in the backyard or neighboring empty lots and he often drove carloads of players to play in neighboring towns.  But daughter Veronica always earned Nick's fierce protection and his concern over her well being.  This love for his daughter translated to his granddaughters as they were growing over the years.
Nick passed on his strong work ethics to all of his children along with his intense competitive spirit, and along with Vicky they raised 4 children who love and care for each other even though separated by many kilometers
Private services were held with Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Service - Dauphin in care of arrangements.
Memorial donations are respectfully requested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada Donations - 1003 Decarie Blvd., Montreal, QC H4A 0A9 or to a charity of donors choice.
