Michael Sitko

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Sitko of Grandview, MB on November 26, 2019 at the age of 88 years.

Mike was born to Steve and Doris (nee Bachewich) on November 22, 1931 in Oakburn, Manitoba. He started teaching in 1955 and on January 26, 1957 he married, Sophie Todoruk and they began their family. Their first child, Pat was born on May 7, 1957 and then on July 31, 1962 their son, Ken was born. Mike started farming in 1961 and he continued his passion of farming right to the very end. Sadly on November 22, 2007 Mike’s loving wife passed away. Mike loved his farming, going to auction sales, drawing, hunting and trapping. On November 22, 2019 Mike celebrated his 88th birthday surrounded by his family.
Mike passed away peacefully on November 26, 2019 at the Grandview Personal Care Home, where he lived for the past five months.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Pat Bosnell and son, Ken (Lisa) of Grandview; granddaughter, Tracy Bosnell (Bill Winniski) of Dauphin and grandsons, Travis, Collin and Lee of Grandview; brothers, Frank and John and sisters, Olive, Joyce, Janet, Lillian, Thelma and Sylvia and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike is predeceased by his mother and father, Steve and Doris; wife, Sophie; son, Brian; grandson, Steven; sister, Marcia and sister-in-law, Stella.

A Funeral Liturgy was held for Mike on December 4, 2019 at 10:00 am from the St. Elias Ukrainian Catholic Church in Grandview, MB with Rev. Father Yaroslav Strukhlyak officiating. Interment followed in Grandview Memorial Gardens & District Cemetery in Grandview, MB.
