Welcome to the memorial page for

Marlene (Maksymetz) Dudar

November 5, 1928 ~ December 10, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Dudar on December 10, 2017 at St. Paul’s Nursing Home in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Marlene was one of ten children born to Luke and Anne (Moroz) Maksymetz on November 5, 1928 in Venlaw, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband Carl; parents Luke and Anne; brothers Steve, Morris, Walter, Ted, Michael, and Billy; sisters Nan and Rosalie. She is survived by sons Louis (Beverley) and Ken (Debbie), grandchildren Jason (Crystal), Tyler (Sarah), Jared, and Arleigh, and great-grandaughter Amaya; sister Eileen Kuzenko, brothers-in-law Tony Pulak and Bob Butler, and Maksymetz sisters-in-law Nadia, Margaret, and Rosalene. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Marlene married Carl Dudar on June 15, 1949 in Venlaw. They were married 48 years before Carl’s passing in 1998. They first lived in Ethelbert until 1962 when they then moved to Dauphin. Family was very important to Marlene with many visits to Ethelbert, Gilbert Plains, Venlaw, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Okanagan area, and northern Manitoba. Marlene was heavily involved with the church and served as a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League for over 55 years. Many summers were spent camping at Blue Lakes, picking mushrooms, berries, and playing many games of cards with friends. Gardening was a true passion, where Marlene prized her garden and flowers, often to the appreciation of neighbours and those that visited. Marlene was employed as a sales clerk at Eaton’s and the Mary-Jane Ladies Store for many years, then went on to work at St. Paul’s Nursing Home in the kitchen until she retired. She was also in charge of the catering for weddings and socials held at the 11th Avenue Hall. If she wasn’t making perogies for family and friends, then she would be found volunteering at the church, senior centre bingos, and various booths during Ukrainian Festival.

She will be dearly missed but not forgotten. Rest in Peace - VICHNAYA PAMYAT
