Kenneth Lunsted Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Leonard Lunsted of Dauphin on July 1, 2018 at the age of 80 years.
Ken was born August 28, 1937 in Dauphin Manitoba to Arthur and Aretta (Durston) Lunsted. He took his schooling at Mountview and McKenzie School in Dauphin.
Ken was a hard worker at heart. He spent his younger days working for Durston Honey Farm and as a mechanic in town for Brander’s Garage, Munro and Allard Motors.  Ken loved riding snow machines and working on anything that needed fixing. He owned and worked with heavy equipment and a gravel truck.  He also worked at the Dauphin Alfalfa plant and on the Lysack farm from 1995-2014 until his health no longer allowed him to work.
Over the years he travelled with several members of his family and friends from coast to coast throughout the USA and Mexico. Ken & Phyllis also had a camper van, and then bought a motor home. From May till October they travelled for 16 years with Nicole and Jenna to horse shows. Moose Jaw was his favorite, when he got to meet up with cousin Gary for a two day visit and fixing things together.
Ice fishing and reading were his favorite past-times. Ken enjoyed his grandchildren on both sides and loved them dearly, even though he never portrayed too much emotion. He had been caught helping them, teaching them, taking care of them, reading to them, playing with them and most of all loving them with all his heart. He loved to attend their Christmas concerts, band concerts or birthday parties, and was very proud of their accomplishments.  He was a very patient, quiet and loving Dad, Grandfather and was called Grampy or Grandpa Ken in later years.
Ken is lovingly remembered and left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Phyllis; his sons Rick (Eunice) and Len (Nicole) Lunsted of Dauphin.  Grandchildren Trevor (Dannielle) Lunsted of Ile des Chenes Manitoba; Allison, Christopher and Kyle Lunsted of Dauphin.  His step-children Michelle (Martin) Kaminski; Nicole (David Gosskie) Cugnet of Dauphin and James (Kelly) Cugnet of Calgary, Alberta.  Step grand-children Tyler (Carmen) Kaminski of High Level Alberta; Jenna Gosskie of Dauphin; Laney & Claire Cugnet of Calgary Alberta.  Step-great grandchildren Parker Kaminski of High Level Alberta and Kianna Kaminski of Dauphin. Also Ken is survived by his aunt Pauline Lunsted of Dauphin.
Ken was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Aretta Lunsted and his grandson Chad Lunsted. Father & Mother in law Bob and Eula McGimpsey, brother in law Bob McGimpsey & step-grandson Travis Kaminski all of Dauphin.  Sister in law Audrey Kutcher and her husband Bob of Edmonton Alberta.
Ken spent the last fifteen months of his life in McCreary, Gilbert Plains and Dauphin Personal Care Homes when his heart gave him trouble. He enjoyed his time there. Thanks to all the staff for the wonderful care, and to those who went to visit him.
Ken will be sadly missed, but our memories will last forever. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken to a charity of one’s choice.
