June Draper of Grandview, MB passed away peacefully at the Grandview Hospital June 19, 2018 at the age of 98 years.
March 13, 1920 Winnipeg, MB was June's place of birth to Bertha Janet Turner and Charles Raymond Street.
June married George Draper August 8, 1940. They lived in the Ottawa district and moved to Grandview in 1973.
June started her career as a hairdesser and after marrying George became a devoted farm gal. June very quickly became involved in the community. The Women's Institute, curling, dancing, playing cards, music, performing for community audiences demonstrating her singing and acting skills with Mrs. Campbell at the piano.
June and George loved to fish. They were both devoted to family helping when needed.
When they moved to Grandview June played a major role in the development of the Drop Inn Center and continued to be involved in a number of community events. She was also a devoted member of the United Church Choir. June loved to play cards with family and friends. She was a very good bridge player. She was annoyed when her partner didn't respond to her bid, looking across the table to find her partner asleep.
June is survived and will be sadly missed by two daughters Marlene June Cowling (Doug) and Shirley Ann Fisher (Ivan), 12 grandchildren Dale, Wanda, Suzanne, Carla, Brent, Laurie, Kevin, Randy, David, Brian, Linda and Barrie, 21 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters Joyce and Shirley and 1 brother Jack as well as a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
June was predeceased by her husband George, 1 step son Lorne, 2 grandaughters Denise and Beverly and 3 sisters Vi, Helen and Sheila.
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm from Grandview United Church in Grandview, MB with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating. Interment followed in Grandview Memorial Gardens & District Cemetery in Grandview, MB. Pallbearers were Dustin Fisher, Kelly Fisher, Sierra Fisher, Kelly Paul, Christopher Paul, Lyon Funk, Silas Funk.
