Jean Elizabeth "Betty" Storey

Betty (Jean) Elizabeth Storey (nee Paisley)
Betty Storey passed away peacefully at the Grandview District Hospital on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the age of 94 years.
Betty was born on August 19, 1924, at Grandview, Manitoba, daughter of George and Isabella Paisley (née Dingwall). She received her education at Tamarisk School, then went on and took teachers training in Winnipeg and taught at the Duck Mountain School where she meet and married her life partner Doug Storey. They spent many years farming, and Betty along with all the hard work enjoyed family, friends, 4-H leadership and quilting. After many years of enjoying their farm, it was time to start enjoying life away from the farm and they retired to Grandview in 1990. Her husband Doug passed away in 1992. Betty embraced life with enjoying many things, such as, swimming every summer until she was 94, square dancing, The Rebecca’s, church, trips with her family to places like Scotland, British Columbia and Florida. She also spent countless enjoyable hours with each of her Grandchildren. Betty was an animal and nature lover through her years which she instilled in all her children. Betty had a passion for her Scottish heritage and the music. Betty was a strong woman and was always there for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty put in many volunteer hours for many community organizations in Grandview. Betty loved her home and the view of the Duck Mountains, she was able to remain in her home till the end as she wished.
Betty is survived by five children, Heather and Gene Nawolsky, Lynda and the late Dave Rowat, Douglas (R.G.) and Kate Storey, Retta and Gerry Deslauriers and Wendy and Ian Fraser, as well as 12 grandchildren Jason, Jared, Cindy, Rachel, Laura, Douglas, Tyson, Morghan, Meghan, Joe, Ryan, Danielle and a special little fur granddog Wee Piper. Also 11 great grandchildren Isabelle, Kayden, Graham, Alchemy, Arelie, Avender, Dinato, Nova, Maven, Colt and Oaklynn. 
Betty is also survived by one brother Jim and wife Eleanor Paisley and many nephews and nieces.
Our Dad and Mom both came from large families that have all predeceased Betty, along with their spouses.
All Betty’s friends are to consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers are her Grandsons and son in laws Joe Storey, Tyson Deslauriers, Ryan Deslauriers, Dave Elder (honorary Grandson), Ian Fraser and Gerald Deslauriers.
In lieu of flowers if friends so desire donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Grandview United Church or any animal charity of choice.
 
Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Grandview United Church in Grandview, MB with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.  Interment followed in Grandview Memorial Gardens & District Cemetery in Grandview, MB.
