Herbert Clarkson Obituary

Herbert Kenneth Clarkson, of Winnipegosis Mb, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at the age of 72 years. He was born April 18, 1947 – the ninth of fourteen children – to Walter and Helen Clarkson.

A welder by trade, Herb spent much of his life working in many different parts of Canada. From the Yukon Territory to welding the Tundra Buggies in Churchill, Herb always travelled for new opportunities. He took great pride in his work and the places that it took him where he made lifelong friends along the way.

After retirement, Herb could be found cruising the streets of the village. He was always down for a quick chat about the latest news. If he wasn’t in town, you could find him at Red Deer Point or the airport with a polar bear in hand checking for deer, hunting chickens, or just wasting gas. Many adventures were had with his brothers, and later with his many nephews teaching them the ‘Clarkson Way.’ Once in a while, the wives and children got to tag along if they were lucky. Every Clarkson offspring learnt how to camp, drive, hunt and drink during these tagalongs. It was these times that formed the close indescribable bond of the ‘Clarkson Clan.’

Herb spent many days putting on the miles with his family. Whether it be chasing them away from the river, or walks down the old crooked road, he cherished them all. Most recently, you could find Herb and his grandson Breylen scooting around town with the biggest smiles on their faces or sharing some ice cream on his couch. Herb adored his family, along with many fur babies. From squirrels to deer, to cats and dogs - you name it, he brought it home. His big heart made him unable to pass up an animal in need, instilling this love for animals in his family.

Herb is survived by his daughters; McKenzie Clarkson, Janelle (Dennis) Thompson, Stacey (Dave) Coughlan, Teri (Rolf) Pyttlik. Grandchildren; Breylen Kaartinen, Brooklyn & Brysen Thompson, Alyssa (Cade) & Tara Coughlan, Kyle (Meagan) & Kody (Michelle) Pyttlik. Great Grandchildren Jaden, Brody & Liam Pyttlik. Sisters Shelbie; Myrtle; Brenda (Dennis); and Loretta. Brothers Robert (Vivian); Thomas; Mitchell (Helen); Ernest (Linda); Scott (Val); Doug; Arnie (Sharon) and Eddie. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and in laws that he held dear to his heart.

He is predeceased by his parents Helen & Walter; partner Marcie Coma, Sister Irene Chartrand, Granddaughter Kelse Pyttlik.
