Helen Pylypchuk Obituary

Our sister Helen passed away peacefully on September 15, 2018, at home with her family by her side.

Helen was born March 16, 1953, in Winnipegosis, Manitoba and went to Skala School from Kindergarten to Grade 7, until Skala School was closed. She attended Fork River School in Grade 8 and completed her high school at Winnipegosis Collegiate.

From May 1973 till her retirement, Helen worked as a switchboard operator for Manitoba Telephone System.

Helen was always there to help and take care of family. When Mom and Dad wanted to stay home and could not care for themselves, Helen did not think twice to take care of our parents at home. For many years Helen was always there for Mom and Dad and we will always be eternally grateful to her for her love and dedication to Mom and Dad.

Helen has always dreamed of seeing Nashville. In October 1992 Helen’s dream came true when she travelled to Nashville, Memphis and Branson. With Helen’s love of country music she attended many Country Fests in Dauphin and one Christmas Helen was surprised by tickets to an Alan Jackson concert in Winnipeg, which she thoroughly enjoyed and talked about some time.

Helen went on countless road trips to visit family in Alberta and British Columbia and enjoyed family and friends visits, always having coffee on ready for good conversation and reminiscing. When questions arose of family from years ago Helen always had the family history books ready to answer any questions.

Helen also took pride in her garden and loved giving away vegetables from the garden to family and friends and also loved taking photos of family and friends. She has many, many photo albums full of pictures from numerous occasions with family and friends. She also surrounded the house with many pictures and as well as displayed the most recent photos of everyone on the fridge.

Every Christmas Helen enjoyed making and giving away her famous caramel popcorn and Christmas cake and also making her famous sweet and sour spareribs for family, which we all loved.

Helen is survived by her sisters Elsie, Mary Anne (Terry) and Shirley (Chris). She is also survived by her nephews and nieces Ed Jr., Ken, Dennis (Marianne), Ashley (Lynds), Tom and friend Michelle as well as her great nephews and nieces Corey, friend Brooke, Chris, Brian, Brett, Jamie, Nicole, Bodhi, Caia, Hayden and Rhyea.

Helen was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Edward.

The family wishes to thank family and friends for their kindness and lending a helping hand to Helen when she was unable to attend to her daily routines.
