On Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Grandview Hospital, Gerald Wilson Morran passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family at the age of 93, having lived a long full life as an amazing father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Gerald was born in Grandview on October 21, 1926 to Thomas and Hilda Morran (nee Fisher) and attended the near by Morranville School, completing grade nine before leaving to work on the family farm. Gerald grew up with three siblings, two brothers, Jim and Russell and one sister, Mabel.
He married the love of his life, June Hutchins in September 1949 and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They spent almost their entire marriage on the family farm before moving into town in 2006.
His main loves were family, music and antique cars and tractors & playing saxophone and banjo for the Grandview Orchestra from 1945 to 1996 - the entire family was gifted with his love of music and dance through the Morran family genes. Gerald's John Deere tractor collection and restored automobiles were his pride and joy. Many hours were spent working at the Grandview Museum. Winters were spent watching the Grandview Comets and his grandchildren at the rinks. Gerald belonged to the Pool Elevator board, Manitoba Rapeseed board, Keystone Ag Producers, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and the Grandview Museum board.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 70 years June; children, Roger (Lorna), Calvin (Sherry), and Gayle (Ken); his seven grandchildren Derek, Carla, Kara, Alyssa, Dakota, Jessy and Colby; his four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jordyn, Parker and Gracie; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Thank you to the amazing and compassionate staff at Grandview Hospital, Dr. Elliott and the wonderful Homecare staff that allowed mom and dad to stay together to his final days with us, also Karen Kuzek for being by his side.

A Funeral Service was held for Gerald on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the Grandview United Church in Grandview with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.
Interment followed in the Grandview Memorial Gardens & District Cemetery.
