Gerald Edward Dawson

With saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Gerald Edward Dawson at the age of 85 on June 8, 2018.  A loving husband to Joy, proud Dad to Val (Ernie), Carol (John) and Laurie (Steve),  Grandpa to Tyler (Jenna), Colin, Ashlyn (Clinton), Blake, Kacie (Logan), Jett and Dag and Great-Grandpa to Tylee, Harper and River.
Gerald was born on October 15, 1932 in Shoal Lake Manitoba to Frank & Jane Dawson.  He was the youngest of five children with his siblings being Fred, Dorothy, Delmar and Florence.  Gerald started his working career in the creameries of Shoal Lake and moved on to Winnipeg and Dauphin with his work for the Federal Government as a Dairy & Seed Inspector.
Throughout his life he was an avid sports fan both playing and watching hockey, curling, golfing and baseball.   His love for the outdoors was evident in his gardening as well as his “going west” to Gilbert Plains at their summer getaway at the GP Campground.  Puttering and enjoying the interaction with friends and family has left us with fond and fun memories.  
His pride and enjoyment of watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren make their way in the world was a favourite topic of conversation.  He always had a kind word to say followed up with a quick witty comment to make you smile resulting in friendships wherever he spent time.
Your weary hours and days of pain
Your troubled nights are past,
And in our aching hearts we know
You have found sweet rest at last.
We’ll miss you forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dauphin Personal Care Home .

Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 am from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB with Rev. Steve Wilson officiating.
