Evelyn Bomak Obituary

With deep sadness we announce the passing of our Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother, Evelyn Bomak on March 8, 2019.

Evelyn was born June 8, 1934, to Andrew and Rose Genik (nee Sklepowich). She grew up on the family farm and received her education at Kosiw School in the Keld District.  She worked hard on the farm and assisted her mother with the care of her younger siblings.  Evelyn was the oldest of six girls.  Anne, Mary, Helen, Sylvia, and Jean.

On July 15, 1954, Evelyn married her best friend John Bomak. They went on to farm, working hard and raising their four Sons.

Evelyn enjoyed her garden & flowers. Numerous hours were spent maintaining both. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. There were many late nights and weekends of stiff competition playing Canasta or whist.  We are sure she only cheated when playing with the grandkids and it was only to help them beat grandpa. When Evelyn was well she made perogies, cabbage rolls, and cheese rolls with John’s help.  She also enjoyed going to church.  She joined the Ukrainian Catholic Ladies League in 1964 and she remains a member.

Evelyn worked at the Grandview District Hospital for 22 Years, taking great pride in her job as Housekeeping Supervisor. Evelyn had a special honor when she was recognized by the Canadian Accreditation Council, in the Macleans Magazine for having one of the cleanest Hospitals across Canada.  She retired in February 1994.

Evelyn loved her family dearly and was constantly checking up on everyone with her regular calls.

She was special to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Evelyn will be sadly missed by her husband John of almost 65 years.  Four sons, Russell (Maureen), of Bently, Alberta;  Ron of Dauphin;  Ed (Shirley) of Grandview;  Dwayne (Margie), of Grandview.

Grandchildren, Terry (Travis);  Carla (Brad); Clayton (Shari); Douglas;  Jennifer; Derek (Haley) and Rikki.

Great Grandchildren, Ethan, Makenna, Addison, Bodhi, Brooklynn, Calleigh and Nickolas.

Also surviving are three sisters Anne Clark of Brandon, Helen Urbanovitch of Portage la Prairie, and Jean (Vern) Clyde of Calgary.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Andrew (1976) and Rose (1993), sisters Sylvia Liwiski & Mary Panasiuk, brothers-in-law Ed Liwiski, John Panasiuk & Clair Clark, daughter-in- law Marlene Bomak
