April 28, 1928 ~ October 10, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Elsie Irene McLaughlin was born April 28, 1928 to Herman and Sarah Effler (Nee Harvey) of Grandview.  She passed away on October 10, 2017 at the age of 89 years at the Dauphin Personal Care Home.
Elsie will be remembered by her children Karen (Mervin) McKee, Brad (Pat) McLaughlin and Jim McLaughlin (Michelle Wells); also by her grandchildren Paula (Adam), Scott (Corinne), Sherry (Jody), Rob (Leah), Brett (Sarah), Jordan (Lauren), Sarah, Jamie (Jackie);  her great grandchildren Cade, Ethan, Nicholas, Daniel, Allison, Lincoln, Devon, Taylor, Ethan, Hannah, Abby and Waylon.  Also remembered by her sisters Marion Jenkyns and Wilene Hanna, her brothers Garnet, Marshall (Norma), Barry (Marlene), her sister-in-law Joyce McLaughlin, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Mom married Bert McLaughlin on July 31, 1948 and they farmed in the Spruce Creek area of Dauphin, until they retired to town in 1993.  They wintered in Weslaco, Texas for 28 years until Dad’s passing in November of 2000.
Mom enjoyed many things: playing cards, bingo and scrabble - not too many people beat her at Scrabble - golf, curling, painting, collecting bells and any other craft she tried.  She loved her family, was a great cook, kept a beautiful yard and garden and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
She was a member of numerous community groups - Spruce Creek Ladies, Dauphin Pioneer Association, Royal Purple, Senior Centre, Hospital Auxiliary, The Red hatters to name a few.
The family wish to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Elsie may be made to the Dauphin & District Community Foundation or the activities department of the Dauphin Personal Care Home .
