Ella Kahoot (nee Wizniak) passed away peacefully on July 13, 2019 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Dauphin Regional Hospital at the age of 85 years with her daughters by her side.
Mom was born March 29, 1934 in the R.M. of Mossey River to John and Pauline Wizniak. She was the eldest daughter of three children. She attended Norton School and then the Dauphin Collegiate. She completed her education at Little’s Business College.
Ella married Mervyn on July 29, 1961 and was later blessed with two daughters, Carla and Deana. She led a busy life as wife, mother and daughter. After her retirement from Western Grocers in 1991, she enjoyed working in her garden, entertaining family and friends and providing compassionate and loving care for her elderly parents.
Ella was predeceased by her husband, Mervyn; and parents, John and Pauline Wizniak.
Mom is survived by her daughters, Carla, Deana; son-in-law, Randy; sisters, Verna Murray, Gladys Wizniak and Nick Demy.
Mom and Dad were active members of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Dauphin. After Dad’s passing in 2001, she was so proud when she received her driver’s license which gave her full independence. She was a very strong person who was able to remain in the home she loved and took pride in maintaining her house and flower garden.
She was a generous and kind lady who deeply cared about her friends and neighbours. Her most cherished moments were the times she spent with her daughters.
Sincere appreciation to the Home Care Staff for your assistance in helping Mom at home. Special thanks go out to Dr. Mathison and staff at the Palliative Unit for their kind and compassionate care for Mom. Also thank you to Father Oleg Bodnarski for the spiritual support in a time of need.
Mom will be deeply missed and always remembered with love and affection.
