Douglas Joseph Munro of Pine Creek, Manitoba passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Douglas was born January 30, 1935 in Swan River, Manitoba and grew up in Duck Bay, Manitoba.
Our Dad was united in marriage to Mary (Nepinak) on October 12, 1958 and they were blessed with three children; Garry, Wallace and Lorette.
Throughout his life, Douglas worked in the bush for different companies. From 1977 to 1982, he worked at Ruttan Lake for Sherrit Gordon Mines in Leaf Rapids. From the middle 1980’s to early 1990’s he and his wife managed a pool room and store. Dad enjoyed fishing, trapping in the Spring, playing bingo and slots and watching television. He enjoyed spending time with his family and would travel as often as he could. Douglas loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would often travel to The Pas to make his rounds visiting them all.
Due to his failing health, he moved to the Rod McGillivary Memorial Care Home in 2018 where he resided until his passing on July 15, 2019.
Douglas leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Garry (Anna); and daughter, Lorette (Fabian); grandchildren, Marietta, Charlene, Waylon, Kirk, Tanya (Edmond), Connie (Tom), Pamela (Taylor), Gary Jr, Jersey, Destiny, Brandon, Angel (Neil), Ron (Shirley), Brad (Kathy), He also leaves his sisters and brothers, Dorothy (Munro) Delaronde, Evelyn (Munro) Ledoux, James Genaille and George (Sandra) Munro, Shirley Constant. He also leaves several god-children and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary; son, Wallace Kenneth Munro; parents, Abraham John (AJ) and Catherine Betsy Munro; brothers, Raymond and Leonard Munro; grandson, Andy Chartrand; great-great grandchildren, Aliyah Charlotte Munro and Angel Munro; daughter-in-law Gladys Munro.
Prayer Service & Wake was offered on Thursday, July 18, 2019 beginning at 4:00 pm from the Camperville Hall in Camperville.
A Funeral Mass was held for Douglas on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 10:00 am from the St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Duck Bay with Father John Okosun officiating.
Interment will follow in the Duck Bay Cemetery.
