Claude Adelard Deslauriers passed away peacefully at the Grandview District Hospital on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the age of 83.
Claude was born on November 25, 1935, at Laurier, Manitoba, son of Joseph Adelard and Marie-Claire Deslauriers (nee Laurier). Claude was the proud father of 2 sons Gerald and Chris. Claude spent his work life as a cattle buyer. He was also a Elder of the Métis Federation which he took great pride in. Claude enjoyed watching horse races, harness races, which he owned his own horses and raced, hockey, and curling. He retired to Grandview, Manitoba in 2017. He enjoyed his time going for coffee at the Grandview Bakeshop, spending time with the other residents at Valley Vista apartments, and going to the Auction mart in Ste Rose du Lac weekly. Claude was diagnosed at the age of 42 with cancer of the liver, and was given 6 months to live. Beating the odds he survived and he was cancer free for another 42
years. Claude's pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Claude will be greatly missed by son Gerry and Retta, grandchildren Tyson and Brittany, Ryan and Shanel, and Danielle. Great-Grandchildren Nova, Colt, Oaklynn, and Maven.
Claude also survived by his son Chris and family, along with his two sisters Marie-Paule Gobillot, and Antoinette and Blair Meggison and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Claude's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held in Laurier, MB at a later date.
