Bill (William) Atamanchuk of Sifton, Manitoba passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the age of 85 years.
Bill was born in Sifton on April 27, 1933 to John Atamanchuk and Annie (Lylyk). He died at the Winnipegosis Hospital on May 27, 2018 with his wife at his side.
Bill was raised in Sifton and attended Dauphin Plains School. Bill married his first wife Betty Tichon in 1959, he bought a farm of his own across from his parents where he built a house and had four children with Betty. Tragically in 1972 Betty died, left to raise his children alone he sold the farm. He then met his second wife Ellen and bought a farm with her west of Valley River. They would have one son together. In 1994 Bill and Ellen sold the farm and moved to Sifton. Being only semi-retired Bill worked for farmers in the Sifton and Dauphin area.
Bill had a deep love for horses and he would take any chance he had to parade his team of Belgians. his favorite horse was Trigger and his favorite dog was his dog Sporty. Bill worked for many years at the Ukrainian Festival until he was unable to manage it.
Bill's life long passion was hunting, he always looked forward to hunting season. He enjoyed hunting with his dad and then hunting with his boys. Hunting was the main topic of any story Bill had to share.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, his first wife and his brother Ernie.
Bill is survived by his wife Ellen; mother-in-law Irene Harvey; his sister Margie; his children, Wayne (Luella), Tom (Debbie), Rick (B-Ann), Debbie (and friend), Vince (Karen) and his grandchildren and extended family.
Prayers were offered on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB.
Funeral Service was held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 am from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB with Rev. Father Brent Kuzyk officiating. Interment followed in St. John's Community Cemetery in Sifton, MB. Pallbearers were Tyler Atamanchuk, Taylor Woodhouse, Eric Woodhouse, Tyson Gillis, Kevin Bernat, Dave Scheller.
