Arthur "Art" W. Lang

Arthur “Art” Wesley Lang of Grandview Manitoba, entered into rest on May 14, 2018 at the age of 90 years. Art was born April 13, 1928 in Waskada, Manitoba.  His family moved from Waskada to Grandview in 1935.  Art’s father was Lindsay Lang, his mother was Margret Lang (nee Shield).  Both have predeceased Art.

Arthur is survived by his brothers Wayne (Beverley) Lang and Jim (Peggy) Lang; his only sister Carol (Mervin) Dermont; nieces and nephews David and Debbie Lang, Cindy Koutecky, Connie Plammondon, Carrie Audit, Lindsay Lang and April Anderson.

Art was raised on the family farm in the Wicklow district.  Art attended Wicklow School for grades one to seven and then attended Grandview High School for one year.

Art worked on the family farm until his brother Wayne married Beverley and took over the farm in 1951.  Lindsay, Margret, Art and Carol moved to town where Art resided until he moved to the Grandview Manor in 2008.

Art worked at the Grandview Motor Inn as a custodian for 26 years.  He was awarded the Manitoba Hotel Association Loyalty Award for his loyal service to the hospitality industry.  Len Wisterlund accepted the award on behalf of Art at the 55th Annual Manitoba Association convention on Winnipeg on November 2, 1982.

Art enjoyed listening to his many records, especially Wilf Carter and Slim Whitman being his favourites.  Art also enjoyed his “coffee times” at the Friendly Korner Bakeshop as well as McDonalds in Dauphin.  

Art will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorial Service was held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm from Grandview United Church in Grandview, MB with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.  Interment followed in Grandview Memorial Gardens & District Cemetery in Grandview, MB.
