Annie Prytula Obituary

Annie Prytula passed away peacefully at the Gilbert Plains Health Center on May 16, 2018. Annie was born on December 1, 1915 in Ethelbert, Manitoba and was one of two children to Sophie and Max Grysiuk. Annie meandered away from the farm where she met John Prytula. They were married in Gilbert Plains in 1931. In 1932 they purchased their farm where their life-long journey had begun. With help from their family, friends, and neighbors, they cleared the area to begin making the land their home. Although these days seemed hard and long, everything John and Annie did was for their six children: Mike, Steve, Peter, Rosalyn, Walter, and Sylvia.

Annie and John packed up and moved together to the village of Gilbert Plains. In 1971, Annie’s husband, John Prytula, passed away. Annie now lived alone in Gilbert Plains where she enjoyed hobbies, like gardening, making perogies, and visits from her children and grandchildren. After her health declined, she moved to the Burrrows Apartments in Gilbert Plains where her social life inclined. She enjoyed playing cards, TV bingo, and having company.

Shortly after turning 90, Annie made another move. Her final move to the Gilbert Plains Health Center. Annie again appreciated visits and phone calls from her family. Every visit she received, whether it was from a relative, old friend, neighbor, or nurse, she consistently valued and adored.
Annie was an amazing woman who had a wonderful personality. She was someone who could light up a room with her caring and compassionate nature. She lived her life to the fullest before her health deteriorated. Annie always kept a positive attitude and was always a happy person. She was the best daughter, wife, mom, baba, great baba, and great great baba.
Annie was predeceased by her parents, brother, husband John, children Mike and Steve, grandchild Kenny, and great grandchild Bradley. Left to cherish her memories are: son Peter (Lydia), daughter Rosalyn, son Walter (Barb), and daughter Sylvia (Gene), daughter-in-law Freda Prytula. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. As well as many memories.
