Annette Clement Obituary

On January 11, 2020, Annette Clement (née Delaurier), died peacefully at the age of 81, spending her final days with her husband Rémi Clement in the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste. Rose du Lac, MB.

She leaves behind to mourn; her husband Rémi, her two sons, Ron and Paul of Edmonton, AB, and one step-grandson Conrad Nalesnik (Amy) of Katy, Texas and one step-granddaughter Christina Vandenbon (Dave) of Edmonton AB. Also to remember her are her 9 loving siblings; Laurent, Johnny, Leona (Leon), Lionel (Paulette), Lucina (Maurice), Irene (Emile), Denis, Andre (Martin), and Claire, as well as generations of nieces and nephews.

Annette was predeceased by two daughters in law, Brenda Clement and Giorgina Clement, two nephews, Pierre Delaurier and Rheal Delaurier, and sisters and brothers in law: Therese Troilo, Rita Jeanotte, Alice Gaudreau, Louise Delaurier, Louis Clement, Rolland Clement and Maurice Todd.

Annette was the first of ten children born to Etienne and Clarisse (Dubois) Delaurier. She was born August 21,1938 on the family farm near Laurier, MB, before relocating to Ste. Rose where the family opened a blacksmith business.  Her life as a schoolgirl in Ste. Rose was spent helping the growing family.

At a Remembrance Day dance in 1956, Annette's life would be forever changed when she met the love of her life, Rémi Clement from Laurier MB. Despite his work transfer soon after to BC, they corresponded faithfully, realizing the life they wished to spend together by marrying on January 14, 1958 in Ste. Rose, surrounded by their  friends and loving family. Their lives were blessed by two sons, Ronald in 1959, and Paul in 1960, who now reside in Edmonton, AB. They remained married for 61 strong years, providing the example of unconditional love and support, for better or worse and in sickness and in health, to all who witnessed their union.

Through many re-locations across Canada, Annette and Rémi were met with challenges they surmounted, and were rewarded with many good friends along the way. In the later years of their lives, Annette & Rémi chose to move closer to their roots in Ste. Rose and Laurier, MB.  They made a home in Dauphin, MB, and then to Ste Rose. Their last move was to the Gendreau Personal Care Home.

Annette demonstrated there is nothing more precious than love and nothing more important than family.  Annette was the epitome of love, and she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Rose du Lac, MB.  Fr. Patrick Neufeld as celebrant.  Interment will take place in the Laurier RC Cemetery at a future date.
