Welcome to the memorial page for

Anne Bennett

July 31, 1928 ~ October 16, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

On Monday, October 16, 2017, Anne Bennett of Ste. Rose du Lac and formerly of Rorketon passed away at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home at the age of 89 years.

Anne was born on July 31, 1928 to Andrew and Rose Charnish of Broadview, SK.  Anne came from a large family and lived through the Great Depression and the second world war.  She had many stories about the struggles during those lean years and how it was common to quit school to work and help support the family.  Anne worked as a bank teller for the Imperial Bank of Canada in Brandon.

On a trip to Brandon, she met and married her first husband Walter Tuer and thus began her life as a rancher's wife.  Two daughters came to the Tuer ranch; Laura Ann in 1995 and Marilyn Rose in 1958.  Anne took great joy in sewing dresses for her girls.  She was an amazing seamstress.

Anne became a widow in 1975.  She married Howard Bennett of Dauphin in 1978.  Anne and Howard became town folks when they built a house and moved into Rorketon.  Anne took great pride in her yard.  She planted flowers, fruit trees and maintained a garden.  Anne was an active member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church.  She was a beautiful singer and spent many hours rehearsing songs and hymns for the mass.

Anne spent over 50 years in Rorketon.  Due to failing health, she moved to Ste. Rose du Lac where she resided until her passing.

Anne was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Rose, her husbands Walter Tuer and Howard Bennett, her daughter Laura Tuer, her brothers Peter Charnish, Mike Czernys, Stanley Charnish and her brother-in-law Dan Sarich.

She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories; her daughter Marilyn Dooley (Doug) her grandsons David Leacock and Taylor Dooley, her sister Josie Sarich, her brothers Tony Charnish (Gail), George Czernys (Judy) and her sister-in-law Josie Charnish.

Funeral Service for Anne was held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Rorketon.  Fr. Patrick Neufeld officiated .  A reading was read by her eldest grandson David and the eulogy was read by her daughter Marilyn.  Adele Murray sang Anne's favorite hymn Ave Maria.  Interment took place in St. John's Cemetery, Rorketon .  A time of fellowship and refreshment followed at the Lawrence Community Complex.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home for their loving care of Anne.  A special thank you to Lydia Geertsema who was Anne's "daughter on call".

Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Anne to the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home, Box 60, Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, R0L 1S0.

"God saw the road was getting rough
and the hills were hard to climb
So he closed your weary eyelids
and whispered "Peace be thine"
Lovingly remembered, forever in our hearts"
