Albert Gryba Obituary

Albert Clarence Gryba was born November 22, 1946 in Dauphin, MB to Peter & Marion Gryba (Yasinsky). Albert passed away suddenly on April 15, 2019, on the family farm.Albert attended Artemesia School, Grandview Collegiate, and St. Joseph College in Yorkton, SK. Shortly after college, he met Gwen Galbraith at a social gathering. On June 14, 1969, Albert and Gwen were united in marriage. Albert had a brief work experience at a ranch in Texas, then decided to return home to work on the family farm with his dad. On December 19, 1970, he graduated from Reisch Auction College in Mason City, Iowa, and shortly after gradiation he started his auctioneering business, Gryba’s Auction Service. Albert & Gwen operated a mixed family farm for many years as well as Gryba’s Auction Service. In recent years, he farmed with his son, Mark. He spent many years showing his dad’s and his own purebred polled Hereford cattle at the Toronto Winter Fair, and many country fairs in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.In 1974, Albert & Gwen were blessed with a son, Mark, and a beautiful daughter, Cheryl in 1977.Albert was involved in multiple community organizations. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and ice fishing. He always enjoyed music and dancing. Following his retirement, he was able to pursue his lifelong passion for dancing, during which time he met Marilyn Schwitzer. For the past nine years, Albert and Marilyn shared their lives visiting children and grandchildren, of whom they were very proud. Together they organized many dances, becoming and inspiration to dancers young and old. For the past few years, Albert and Marilyn spent the winter months in Texas.Albert is survived by his partner, Marilyn Schwitzer; son Mark of Grandview; daughter Cheryl (Rob Portmann) of Stoney Plain, Alberta; grandchildren, Benson and Jayda Gryba, Taytum Williams (Mason Beloin), Tanner Williams, and Kaidence Hales, Kira Portmann,  Darvin Portmann and great-grandchild Ryley Beloin; Marilyn’s children, Debbie Lee of Virden, MB, Darlene Ondik of Kamloops, BC, Dwayne Ondik of Esterhazy, SK, and Darren Ondik of Sylvan Lake, AB; Marilyn’s grandchildren, Shanna-Rae, Chantel, Jillissa, Jezlynn, Allie, and Ethan; and Marilyn’s great-grandchildren, Peyton and Ireland. He is also survived by his brothers, Emil Gryba of Winnipeg, MB and Wayne Gryba (Jennifer) of Grandview; sisters, Evelyn Gonsalves of Grandview, Phyllis Wicks (Fred) of Winnipeg, Angeline Gryba of Mission, BC, Elsie Nault (Fred) of Gilbert Plains, Janice Apostle (Ron) of Gilbert Plains; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife, Gwen; his parents, Peter and Marion Gryba; and his brother Mervin Gryba.We will leave you with Albert’s favourite saying:“Don’t worry, be happy.”

 
Funeral Service was held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Grandview Kinsmen Community Center in Grandview, MB with Rev. Karen Kuzek officiating.  Interment followed in Grandview Memorial Gardens & District Cemetery in Grandview, MB.  Pallbearers were Dwayne Ondik, Paul Nault, Jason Gryba, Ethan Apostle, Bryce Gryba, Shaun Green.
