Olga was born on March 6, 1917, to Prokop and Eudokia Tracz (nee Juriliak) at Sifton, Manitoba. She received her education in Sifton School. On November 24, 1945, she married Alex Petreshen. They lived in Dauphin, and in 1952, they moved to Valley River, Manitoba, where they ran a General Store and Post Office for 30 years. She retired in 1982. After living in Valley River for 45 years, she moved back to Dauphin in 1998. Olga was a very active member of the Catholic Church in Valley River, and with the Cross of Freedom as well.
She leaves to mourn her passing one sister-in-law; Jean Tracy of Winnipeg; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Alex in 1989; her parents Prokop and Eudokia; four brothers, Andrew Tracz, Phillip Tracz, Peter Tracz, and Joe Tracy; five sisters, Annie Nakoneshy, Mary Stasiuk, Nellie Kachkowski, Lena Shewchuk, and Cassie Herman.
Prayer services were held Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 5:30 p.m., from Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel in Dauphin. Funeral Liturgy was celebrated Friday, April 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., from the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection, with the Reverend Father Oleg Bodnarski celebrating. The cantor was Marvin Procyshyn. Steve Stasiuk read the Epistle and delivered the eulogy. Members of the Knights of Columbus served as pallbearers. Interment followed at the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Olga’s memory to St. Paul’s Home, 703 Jackson ST, Dauphin, MB R7N 2N2, or to a charity of one’s choice.
