Gladys Fendick of Dauphin passed away on April 14th 2024 with her husband Keith Fendick by her side. Gladys was born on January 11th, 1934 to Robert Roy Cardiff & Elizabeth (Queenie) Jane Cardiff in Dauphin, MB. She was the eldest of 4 children and raised on her mom and dad’s farm. Gladys attended country school until grade 9 then finished at Mackenzie High School. At a young age, Keith Fendick had known he met the love of his life. They were married on June 18th, 1953 and went on to raise 5 children. Gladys had stepped back from the workforce when she became a mother. When Keith started his own business she would do his books, billings and answer calls. Gladys always kept herself busy by sewing and knitting outfits for her kids, bowling and curling with many lifelong friends. Through the years she enjoyed being a part of many organizations including Royal Purple, Donor’s Choice, The Manitoba Heritage Federation and the Fort Dauphin Museum. Once all her children were finished high school she went back in to the workforce and eventually became the Executive Director for the Fort Dauphin Museum; which she worked until retiring in the late 90’s. Gladys loved her time working for the museum and played a huge role for annual events for many years held by Fort Dauphin.
Gladys has shared many memories with family and friends while camping, canoeing, gardening and playing cards. Keith and Gladys enjoyed many Sunday drives to take in the field’s crops and wildlife. The two of them have hosted numerous holiday suppers and parties, preparing an abundance of food and dainties for the large crowd that would attend. She was like a second mom to many of her nieces, nephews and her children’s friends - knowing her home, they were always welcome.
